Greetings, my name is Cal. thank you for visiting my portfolio.
I'm an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Product Designer and High-Precision Machinist with a professional certification in SolidWorks and extensive experience in Fusion 360 including CAM. Skilled in creating high-quality 3D models, technical drawings, renderings and CAM programming. Passionate about advancing and sharing knowledge, I take pride in helping others by sharing my technical knowledge and skills. Known for my cheerful and approachable nature, I enjoy collaborating with others and fostering a positive working environment.

California Crusher

California Crusher is a Custom BattleBot I designed and 3D printed. It is a Beetleweight class combat robot, meaning it weighs under 3LB and generally is within an 8"x 8"x 6" profile. I loved the show since I was young and the fascination with robotics has stuck with me.

I designed the assembly in SolidWorks as well as a technical drawing packet with a BOM and exploded view and individual parts with dimensions.
Precision Manufacturing, Cohort 20, HumanMade

As a graduate of the HumanMade (NGMT) Next Generation Manufacturing Training program, I learned how to prepare and operate subtractive manufacturing techniques, which include 3-Axis CNC machining, manual milling and CAM preparation.
Remodels and conversions

I was tasked with creating STL files of a laser beam combiner and a gas pump combiner. Each had their own challenges, the laser beam combiner had the most complex overall geometry. Were as the gas combiner had a difficult top channel profile.
RFI Smart Chess Set

my objective for this project is making a chess board that keeps track of the game in real time and outputting that information visually and record keeping.

Expanding Lamp, SFSU

While achieving my Bachelor of Science at SFSU Industrial Design we were assigned to design a lamp using a combination of laser cutting, 3D printing and electronics. my design features a mechanical opening and closing cube with a light in the center, the mechanisms interface was a crank below the cube.
Kinetic pendulum sculpture, SFSU

I am quite fond of this project as it was the first project for my Rapid Prototyping class at SFSU. Using the laser cutter I was able to show my artistic design and technical skills. Then contraption is a gear train linked to a pendulum arranged in an arc and cut out of wood.
Stanford design contest entry

For one of the final projects at SFSU Industrial Design we had to create an entry piece for the Stanford Design Challenge focused on innovative products for +65 year old users. I entered a mechanically activated self standing cane I designed, prototyped and marketed.
Modular Wire Managing System

HUB is my final product design project at SFSU. the problem that I identified was weatherproof wire management for solar panels for industrial installations. The HUB system is a modular system that can be adjusted for multiple solar panels in difficult industrial settings.
